Arrive Casablanca

 

WELCOME TO MOROCCO !!!

Upon arrival at Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport, and after custom and immigration formalities, our local representative will meet you outside the baggage claim area.

 

Brief “panorama” tour of Casablanca, driving along the wide boulevards, United Nations Square, the Royal Palace, and viewing the magnificent Mosque of Hassan II, (the second-largest religious edifice in the world after Mecca).

 

Depart for Rabat.  Afternoon at leisure. (d)

   Overnight  CHELLAH HOTEL, Rabat 

Monday

Your morning sightseeing of Rabat will include the Kasbah of the Oudays, Hassan Tower and the walls of the Mechouar, which surround the Royal Palace.  Drive to Meknes.  On the way visit Moulay Idriss, a sacred Islamic town and also the Roman ruins of Volubilis.

 

Afternoon visit of Meknes the “Moroccan Versailles”, a town founded in the 17th century by the King Mulay Ismail.

   Overnight   MENZAH ZALAGH HOTEL, Fes

Tuesday

Fes is the oldest of the Imperial cities and renowned for its spiritual and educational contribution to Morocco culture.  Visit the Medina religious Islamic Universities, the Karaouine Mosque and the Nejjarine fountain. 

  

Afternoon sightseeing of the famous thousand-year-old medina and the souks where craftsman still labor as they have for centuries. (b,d)

   Overnight   MENZAH ZALAGH HOTEL, Fes

Wednesday

Depart for Erfoud via the Middle Atlas mountains, passing Ifrane and Azrou, an important handicraft center.  Arrive Midelt.

 

Continue to Erfoud, a town surrounded by some of the best scenery in Morocco.  (b,d)

   Overnight  BELERE  HOTEL, Erfoud

Thursday

Excursion to Merzouga.  You will be transferred to a 4-wheel drive vehicle and proceed to the Sahara Desert.  After an hour drive, you will reach the sand dunes of Merzouga.  Camels will be waiting for you.  Then begins a magical tour of the most beautiful dunes in Morocco.

 

A bivouac will be set up for you.  This is a large nomadic tent.  On the ground are carpets, comfortable mattresses, pillows, and a table with stools.  Available are chemical WC portable toilets with toilet paper and a solar shower with soap.  A wood fire will be built where the traditional Bedouin bread and dinner will be prepared.    Overnight BIVOUAC, Merzouga

Friday

After breakfast, return to Erfoud and continue to Ouarzazate through the Dades Valley and Tinghir, also known as the road of 1000 kasbahs. 

 

Proceed to the Todra Canyons where part of the film Lawrence of Arabia was filmed. Continue through the Kelaa M'gouna, known as the Rose Valley for its production of rose water. 

 

Arrive Ouarzazate situated at the junction of the Dades and Draa Valleys. (b,d)

Day at leisure in Ouarzazate

OPTIONAL excursion to Zagora

Travel south of Ouarzazate for a whole day through the Draa Valley and the village of Azrou, an old Jewish village.  Visit Mohamed the last settlement before the Sahara. 

 

Return to Ouarzazate with a stop at Tinfou for relaxing and walking in the sand dunes attending the sunset.  (b,d)

Sunday

Visit of Ouarzazate including Tiffeltout and Taouirt kasbahs. Travel through the majestic beauty of the High Atlas.  Visit the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. 

  

Remainder of the day, journey over 7,000 feet through the Tizi n' Tichka pass. Arrive Marrakech. (b,d)

   Overnight   RYAD MODADOR OPERA, Marrakech

Monday

Marrakech is “The Pearl of the South” and was founded by the dynasty of the Almoravides.  Visit the Menara and Agdal Gardens, the Dar Si Sa'id Museum of Moroccan Arts, and the Saadian Tombs, where you will see the countries finest stone and mosaic work.   Proceed to the Koutoubia with its patterns of classical Moroccan architecture, and the Bahia Palace. 

 

In the afternoon, discover the souks of Marrakech and the famous square of Djemaa El Fna, the center of life in Marrakech. It is a public theater and fascinating center where the entertainment never ceases. (b,d)

Tuesday

Morning transfer to Marrakech airport for flight to Casablanca to connect with flight

to USA.
