After breakfast depart Northward to Óbidos, a medieval symbol of narrow streets surrounded by walls. Further on, the fishing port of Nazaré. See the architectural landmarks, the Monasteries of Batalha and Alcobaça where thousands of pilgrims pass on their way to Fátima. (b)

Depart towards Coimbra, visit the university, one of the oldest in the world.

Stop at St.Clara church, where lies the tomb of Queen  St. Isabel.

Today visit Minho, the northeast province of Portugal, and Guimarães, birthplace of the nation.  Stop at Colina Sagrada - castle and palace of Duques of Bragança.

It is also a city of archbishops and the country’s religious capital with the oldest cathedral of Portugal and the sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Braga with its monumental baroque staircase.

Luxuriant greenery surrounds us passing by Barcelos, the town of the legend of the rooster. (b)

Oporto/Amarante/Villa Real/Douro Valley/Urgeirica

Departure to Amarante, a pretty town known for the promotion of love and marriage. Continue to Vila Real, visiting the gardens of Mateus.

Then we enter in the Port wine region, traveling through the

Vineyards and the breathtaking landscapes of Douro Valley.

Stop in Lamego with its magnificent baroque style staircase.

Maybe you will try some of the local delicacies (a loaf baked in the

oven with smoked ham)

 In the mountainous hinterland lies Viseu, a city of warriors and painters. (b)
