Day 1   Arrive Tunis   WELCOME TO TUNISIA !!!
After you arrive, clear customs and pick up your luggage you will be met by our representative.  That person will be holding a sign with your name on it.  From the airport you will be transferred to your hotel in Tunis.

Afternoon at leisure.
     Overnight HOTEL EL MOURADI AFRICA, Tunis

Day 2   Tunis / Carthage / Sidi Bou Said / Tunis
Breakfast at the hotel. 

Morning departure and entrance to the Medina. The medina is found at the centre of the city: a dense agglomeration of alleys and covered passages, full of intense scents and colors, boisterous and active trade, and a surfeit of goods on offer ranging from leather to plastic, tin to the finest filigree, and opportunity to have souvenirs to the works of tiny crafts shops.

Depart to Bardo Museum (closed on Monday) holds the world greatest collection of Roman mosaics.  The Bardo Palace was built by the Turkish Bey in Andalusia style with beautiful ceilings of carved wood and stucco.

Lunch in restaurant in Carthage or La Goulette.

Depart to visit CARTHAGE. Visit the ruins of the Phoenician and Roman civilisations both lie open to the sun and wildflowers. Declared a national monument the town of Carthage and nearby Salammbo abound in vestiges of the Punic and Roman empires, baths, dwellings, mosaics, temples, shrines and the fabulous naval port of the Carthaginians.

Continue to the hill of Byrsa, where in the 8th century BC, Carthage was founded by the legendary Princess Elissa-Dido, is a storehouse of history. Roman mosaics lie next to the ruins of Phoenician buildings dating from the 8th Century BC. This beautiful site has been the theatre of great violence, as a Roman historian wrote of the fall of Carthage.  The city was razed and burnt to the ground and the accursed land covered with salt to ensure its barrenness.

Depart to visit the village of SIDI BOU SAID where you discover the typical Tunisian life style. Have free time for shopping and or a coffee break.

After the tour, depart to your hotel. Arrival, check in. (b,l,)

Day 3   Tunis / Mahdia / El Jem / Sfax
Breakfast at hotel.

Morning departure to MAHDIA. The old part of Mahdia corresponds to the Roman city called Aphrodisium.   It was chosen as the capital because of its proximity to the sea, and the promontory on which an important military settlement had been since the time of the Phoenicians. 

Visit the great Mosque, the Museum and the Medina.

Depart to EL JEM. Visit the Roman amphitheatre dating back to the IInd century. It is one of the three most important amphitheatres in the world, after those of Rome and Capoue.

Visit the museum which houses exquisite mosaics from across the region. In the field of excavation that extends behind the museum, uncovered were the remains of some Roman villas that extracted the most beautiful mosaics museum.

Lunch in El Jem.

Continue to SFAX to visit the Medina.

     Overnight HOTEL OLIVIERS PALACE, Sfax

Day 4   Sfax / Gabes / Matmata / Douz
Breakfast at hotel.

Depart through GABES to MATMATA. Visit Matmata which is a strange troglodyte city which has the form of half a moon thoroughly dogged in the stones. All the dwellings are built at many meters in the underground and give onto inner courtyards; a few of them have been transformed into hotels. 

Visit the Troglodyte houses and a Berber family.

Lunch in Hotel Diar El Barbar. 

Continue to DOUZ known as “The Door of the Desert”.

Day 5   Douz / Chot El Jerid / Tozeur (Oasis Mountains –Ong Djemel / Star Wars site)
Breakfast at hotel.

Depart to TOZEUR by crossing the CHOTT EL JERID. Stop in the salt lake for photos.

Continue to Tozeur. “The palm grove capital”, there you will discover the Tozeur medina and its magnificence through the decorative patterns inspired from carpets and the calligraphy which decorate houses and mosques façades. 

Lunch in the Hotel Tozeur.

Afternoon, depart by jeep for discovery of the Oasis Mountains: Chebika and Tamerza to visit the canyons and the waterfalls. Visit Ong Djemel.

Back to the hotel. (b,l,d)
     Overnight HOTEL PALM BEACH, Tozeur

Day 6   Tozeur / Gafsa / Kairouan
Breakfast at hotel.

Depart early and arrive GAFSA. 

Continue to KAIROUAN. Visit the Great Mosque, Jamaa Sidi Oqba, the oldest Islamic religious site in the western Islamic world. (closed on Friday)

Proceed to museum Raqqada. Visit the Barber Mausoleum or Sidi Sahib, also named the three doors Mosque, and built in XVIIth century in memory of Sidi Sahib, companion of the prophet Mohammed.

Lunch at hotel.

Afternoon, continue visit Bir Barrouta, and the Aghlabite pools. Visit the medina souks and the bazaar of famous Kairouan carpets, jewel of Tunisian handicrafts.

Return to the hotel. (b,l,d)
     Overnight HOTEL LA KASBAH, Kairouan

Day 7  Kairouan / Sousse / Tunis
After breakfast depart to SOUSSE.  Arrive and visit the medina of Sousse, the third city in Tunisia and one of the most important tourist areas in the country.

Then visit of the museum in the Kasbah with it’s high fortress. Construction was started in 859.  The museum hosts an important collection of Punic Roman mosaics of extraordinary artistic quality.

 Continue exploration of the Ribat and its Byzantine fortresses.

Lunch in restaurant La Fiesta in Sousse.

Afternoon visit Port El Kantaoui.    Continue to Tunis. (b,l)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to airport for departure.
